Help Jessica and Anubis escape Tennessee
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jessica. I'm a 22 year old trans woman working as a pharmacy technician in Knoxville, TN. I live with my partner Anubis who is a manager at a home improvement store, and our puppy Sora.
My partner and I are both transgender and have been living in Tennessee for the majority of our lives. We love this state and many of the wonderful people we've met in our time here; however, over the last year, there has been a dramatic shift in political rhetoric demonizing trans people like ourselves which has lead to both of us recieving increased amounts of harassment and threats of violence. Anubis even had their tire slashed in the parking lot of their workplace a little over a month ago.
The stress of our new daily existence, the new legislative agenda being pushed at the state level, and the threat to our physical safety has led to Tennessee no longer being safe for us to continue living in. We've been working towards the goal of moving to Washington State in February of next year, but due to the situation, have had to expedite that timeline considerably and are trying to move sometime in September of this year.
This means considerably less time to save for all the expenses of moving our entire lives to the other side of the country. This includes:
- Moving Vehicle - $2600
- Moving Supplies - $200
- Fuel - $1000
- Hotels for the move - $400
- New WA Pharmacy Technican License - $140
- Breaking our current lease - $1000
- Setting up utilities - $350
- Getting into a new apartment - $3100
- New WA Drivers Licenses - $160
- New WA Vehicle Registration - $85
- Repairs to Anubis's Vehicle - $750
Our $10,000 goal is our entire move fully paid for, but any amount of support helps us immensely.
