As many of my close family and friends have known, I have been working towards applying for a tattoo certification program for the last three years. After many set backs (job loss, cervical cancer diagnosis, custody battle with enormous lawyer fees, Covid-19 pandemic...just to name a FEW) the fruition of my hard work has bloomed, and I am so proud to announce that I have been accepted into the Garden of Ink Tattoo School! My first day of learning is October 16th, and my tuition, enrollment and materials fee of $8,850.00 is due by then. Tattoo schools are not eligible for any kind of federal grants or student loan programs, so the entirety of my tuition will be out of pocket. I have the majority of the funds through a personal loan, but this will definitely put a financial strain on our home.
Now with most GoFundMe campaigns, donations are given and that's that, but I have a proposal to any donors who are personally interested in my education as a certified tattoo artist.
Donations between $50.00 - $150.00 receive a small tattoo (1x1-3x3")
Donations between $151.00 - $300.00 receive a medium tattoo (4x4-6x6")
Donations between $301.00 - $500.00 receive a large tattoo (7x7-10x10")
Donations above $501.00 will receive hourly work respective to donation size for larger or ongoing tattoo projects.
For donors interested in helping out, but not interested in tattoo work, I will gift limited prints, stickers and original works. Commissions will also be available. After schooling is over and I have taken the state exam, I will reach out to donors about possible interests in tattoo or other artistic endeavors. My projected graduation date will be early spring of 2021.
By investing in my education, donors will personally have the opportunity to experience what I have learned in school and become an integral part in this long dreamed of career change. I am hopeful that the amazing community and network of loved ones that have helped me before will help me once again. It is my dream to do more for my community, and I truly believe that this skill set will give me so many more opportunities to give back and to better it. Art in all forms is so important now more than ever, and one of the wonderful things about donating to this cause will be the knowledge that you have helped make the world a little brighter and better for it.
