Help Jessy breath easily again
Hello, my name is Justin. I'm husband to Jessika (her friends and family call her Jessy; I call her babe, baby, my beloved, my spooky gorgeous wife, and so much more!). We've been together since August 8, 2011 (13 years). She had our amazing boy on June 8, 2013 (11 years), and we married on August 8, 2014 (10 years, and yes, the anniversary date is the same lol). She is my best friend and has definitely made me the man I am today. She has given me a reason to truly wake up every morning and love, and I would be truly lost without her.
Unfortunately, my beautiful, kind, amazing wife has been going through it for a while. She has health complications due to genetic cirrhosis of the liver, which is causing hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS). HPS is a rare lung syndrome caused by liver disease that leads to lung problems such as low oxygenation. She has been on oxygen for the better part of 2 years, along with other complications reaching as far back as before 2019.
As of writing, she is in UVA Health, getting a workup done to rule out anything else that could be causing the lung issues, as life after a liver transplant is a rough one.
She would need 24/7 care for the first 1-2 months, which would be provided by family members or friends (me and a secondary person) because there isn't a program that has paid caregivers for that procedure. It causes issues with work-life balance, too many different people rotating in and out causing possible problems with her health because of her immune suppression medication, and the possibility of not having people who have the knowledge of what to look for or do when/if a situation arises. Not to mention, the comfort of having family and friends there for her would be a better situation anyway.
We are humbly asking for donations to help with medical expenses for the liver transplant (there is a cut-off on how much insurance is willing to pay for the surgery), and also living expenses for us while I'm out of work during the recovery period (unfortunately, bills don't pay themselves, no matter what the circumstances are).
She is my entire world, she's given me so much love and support through my adult life and given me the gift of being a father. Please, we beg of you to help us in this time of her life so she can get back to living her life without the constraints of needing to be on a constant flow of oxygen, which has been steadily increasing. Thank you and God bless!
Edit: She is going to need the transplant and is in the hospital until it is completed and they give her the go ahead to be home. She is on the waiting list currently, she will need a whole liver, so unfortunately no living donors :(
