Help Jillian Pay for Childcare

Donation protected
My name is Laura, but this campaign isn't for me. It's for my dear friend, Jillian, and her 3 children, ages 13, 4, & 2.

Jillian is a single mom and works hard to provide for her family. She is self-employed providing cleaning services and has worked diligently to grow her business. Despite this, she struggles to make ends meet. Often, it's all she can do to keep a roof over her family's head, pay the utilities, and keep her aging car running so she can get to work.

She is incredibly grateful for the assistance available to her through things like food stamps and childcare assistance (the two youngest go to daycare so she can work). She wants to provide her children with the best she can and appreciates what a lifesaver these assistance programs have been for her and her family but looks forward to the day when she will no longer need help!

Sadly, the childcare assistance doesn't cover more than half of the cost for daycare. For a long time, she hasn't had the money to pay her half. The daycare has been so gracious, but like any business they have their own costs to cover, and have reached their limit.

Jillian owes $5000 to the daycare. Thankfully the daycare continues to be gracious, but she must pay them no less than $100 every Monday, or her kids will lose their place. Anything extra we can pay each week helps chip away at that debt.  I realize that for many people this doesn't seem like a lot of money, but for Jillian this is essentially a second rent payment. While she has wonderful friends that can help occasionally, none of them are able to watch the little ones full time. She has no family in the area, and the children's father has had zero interest in a relationship with them, meaning there's no help from him or his family. No regularly dependable childcare means no regularly dependable work.

Despite having had the cards stacked against her for so long, she continues to persevere and fight to give her children the best life she can. She's learned to make the most efficient use possible of her meager income by shopping yard sales, thrift stores, and goodwill. She's found the most affordable home she can which keeps her children away from being exposed to the dangers of certain neighborhoods. Even with all this, she has hit a wall and the only thing left to do is to ask for help.

Any and all funds received through this campaign will go towards helping Jillian's children. Her goal is just to give them the best possible life she can, and she needs help. As a longtime friend, I've given her what help I can, but my own means are limited. Your donations will mean that I can worry less about people I love and consider to be family.

I realize that this is a big ask. Jillian and I just hope that you will donate what you can to help her children.

In Jillian's own words, "My faith in God has kept me going, and I'm grateful for the blessings I have, but this is a real pickle."
