Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Community,

On September 8, 2024, our lives were turned upside down when my husband, Jim, checked himself in to the ER with severe abdominal pain. A CT scan revealed a large mass on his liver, along with several smaller masses throughout his abdomen. After a whirlwind of tests and an agonizing wait, we learned on September 12 that Jim had stage 4 melanoma.

Jim, who has always been our rock, now faces the toughest battle of his life. Despite the daunting road ahead, we are holding on to hope. Dr. Jiang has assured us that there are treatment options available. Jim is currently awaiting a PET scan to determine if the cancer has spread to his brain, thus limiting the options significantly. If the cancer has not spread, immunotherapy will start soon.

Jim and I met in 2013 while working at Ralphs, and despite our age difference, we quickly became inseparable. Our journey together has been filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising our two beautiful boys, Charles and Henry. They are 6 and 7 years old, and the thought of them growing up without their dad is unbearable. Jim also has 4 other grown children who need their dad around for many more years.

We are facing not only an emotional and physical challenge but also a significant financial one. The costs of treatment, doctor’s visits, and ongoing care are mounting, and we are reaching out for support during this difficult time.
