Help Jimmy renounce his American citizenship

Hi, my name is Jimmy and I don’t want to be American. I was born in the USA to an Australian mum and a Scottish-Canadian dad. I’m a dual national “Ameristralian”, but only want to be Australian. To do so costs US$2350. or AU$3760

I’ve been Australian since birth, I’ve lived in Australia for 20 years, my family is Australian. I am a very Australian.

We can all agree I shouldn’t be American anymore. These are the top ten reasons:

1. Many people want to be American, I want to make my spot available.

2. America no longer represents my ideals. The land of opportunity now turns its back on the poor, the tired, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free.

3. The current administration doesn’t believe in birthright citizenship so I’m granting their wish.

4. I’ve never voted and shouldn’t have that right. I don’t want America to have a say in my life either.

5. I’m ashamed to tell people I’m American. I say that I’m a ‘recovering American’ if asked as though I was an alcoholic or similar.

6. As a US citizen, if I earned too much in Australia I’d have to pay tax in America. It’s the only country that does this.

7. “I used to be an American citizen” sounds badass and I’m excited to say it.

8. I do not agree with the billions the United States spends on its military that could be used to address poverty in its own country. America glorifies war and the military, and it sickens me.

9. America has the highest incarceration rate in the world, so it’s ranked lowest in the world for freedom. Growing up, I was always told America was the land of the free and I don’t see it that way.

10. I want to set an example for all the other Americans out there that they too can one day not be American.

Furthermore, I can provide the following supporting evidence for being Australian:

1. I make fun of America any chance I get. Making fun of America (AKA taking the piss out of America) is a very Australian thing to do.

2. I’ve been in Australia for over 20 years now. I live up to most Australian stereotypes that are typically shown on American television, except for surfing or wrestling crocodiles.

3. I can eat a meat pie without dropping any of it on the ground.

4. All of my direct family is Australian. I have no blood tie to the USA or it’s history.

5. Australia aligns with me. We care about others and our people. We’re a country that values people being healthy and never worse off.

6. Australia isn’t perfect either but we definitely don’t pretend to be. As Australians we’re not only allowed to criticise our government, but often celebrated for doing so.

7. When younger, I once ate a jar of Vegemite to prove my Australianism. It was very salty. I have not participated in an eating challenge to prove how American I am.

8. I’ve literally cooked prawns on a barbecue, also known as “shrimp on a barbie” but we don’t call them that.

9. I understand the sentence “Shazza grabbed some durries from the servo not the bottlo.” I may have even used it.

10. Like, why not?

I’m mainly doing this to share my disdain for the current American government. I always said I would renounce my citizenship if Trump became president again so here we are.

This is really a no-brainer. If you’re pro-Trump I don’t think you want me as a US citizen. If you’re anti-Trump you’d probably support anyone who doesn’t want to be a yank.

It’s not just Trump, it’s his weird cultish following I wish to seperate from as much as possible. In the words of the famous poet I don’t want to be an American idiot.
