Help Jireh with his Ear Sugery
Hi my name is Jessica, a 4th year medical student and I along with Magdalene are raising funds for Jireh.
Jireh's Age: 13
He was born: In Ghana
What happened: At the age of 5, Jireh put an eraser in his ears. His parents took him to a local hospital in Ghana
but the eraser was not found. About a year later, Jireh began to complain of ear ache and his
parents took notice and took him to the hospital again. At that time, his parents did not have
money to do a recommended procedure by the doctor. As a result, his ear got infected and
tampered his ear drum which affected his ability to hear. His hearing got worse by the year and
subsequently affected his speech. The financial situation in the home became very challenging,
which deprived Jireh the necessary care for his freedom to speak and to hear.
Recently, report from the audiologist in Ghana suggests severe hearing loss in both ears. The
doctors recommend surgery for his right ear due to recurrent infections and a hearing aid in his
left ear. Jireh’s father is no longer in the picture and his mother has taken upon the burden of
taking care of Jireh and his three siblings on her own.
Additionally, Jireh has not been able to attend school since he is not able to hear and speak.
There is no special aid in school to assist him with his classes. Hence, he stays at home.
The financial assistance we are requesting for will aid Jireh and his family to:
• Perform surgery to his right ear to stop the infections
• Purchase a hearing aid for his left ear
• Provide academic support to enable him obtain his basic education
The family greatly appreciates the time, consideration and support to help Jireh get the resources that he needs
