Help JL pay his medical and home expenses
Donation protected
JL has always been a hard worker. He also has a deep love for his wife. One afternoon, JL was doing a chore for her and he fell off a ladder. They don’t have children or any close by neighbors. JL laid on the ground in agony for well over 2 hours (telling himself to hang on for his wife) before a friend that was stopping by with something, found him. Luckily, he got to JL before anything worse happened, like a stroke or heart attack. JL was life flighted to a hospital in Salem, Oregon where he was in the ICU for about a week. Doctors said he fractured a vertebrae and severely damaged his spinal cord. At this time, he cannot move his legs. He had a surgery to relieve pressure on his spinal cord, but his legs are still paralyzed. He is currently in a neck and back brace. JL may be in his 70’s, but he’s still a fighter, just as he was at 14 when he left home to work for the first time. He’s always one to offer help but never one to ask for it. Which is why he and his wife need all the help they can get right now. They live in an older manufactured home that will need work to become wheelchair accessible. They will need help paying for hospital and rehabilitation expenses. His wife works hard full-time running a small restaurant. She has been keeping things afloat for now without JL around. However, his medical expenses are piling up and she is being stretched thin between the restaurant, their home, and going back and forth to the hospital to see JL. The insurance will only help so much. JL will continue to work with the physical therapist team and keep positive about his progress as much as he can. The community they live in has been very supportive and they deeply appreciate any help at all.
