Help Jo on her journey to fight Glioblastoma!

This is something that as a daughter, you never think you would be writing, but here goes…
In December 2024, my beautiful Mum, Jo, went on her three-week holiday of a lifetime to Australia with her partner, Wayne. Everything was amazing and they were having the time of their lives. On the 26th December, Boxing Day, unfortunately mum had a tonic-clonic seizure, resulting in a hospital admission. Mum had never had anything of the sort before. CT and MRI scans were taken, and it was shown that Mum had a lesion on her brain. We were unsure at the time what this was; however, she was later discharged from hospital with a follow up MRI scan in four weeks to ensure she was safe to fly home. Mum felt well in herself and had continued to enjoy the extended trip. The next scan showed that the tumour had grown 4mm. This resulted in mum being admitted to the local hospital for a few days and then flown to the neurosurgical hospital, four hours away, to have brain surgery to remove the tumour. We were told that evening that the tumour was likely to be cancerous. Mum, being as strong as she is, was discharged two days later and recovered amazingly from the four-hour brain surgery.
After a gruelling 5 day wait, we found out that Mum had been diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma. The average Glioblastoma survival time is 12-18 months – only 25% of patients survive more than one year, and only 5% of patients survive more than five years. Mum being as strong, fit and healthy as she is, is determined to be the 5% and further!
Currently, due to the lack of research surrounding Glioblastoma and its aggressive nature, the standard treatment on the NHS is six weeks of combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy and a following six months of chemotherapy. Research has shown that frequent hypobaric oxygen therapy, IV vitamin C infusions, red light and ozone therapy are very successful in helping to fight the Glioblastoma. In addition to this, we are looking at Dendritic Cell Therapy, which is only offered in Mexico and Germany. Currently the NHS does not offer this, and costs are understandably very high - approximately £85,000.
Any donations to support Mum’s further treatment would mean the world to us as a family. Please share this page with your friends, family, colleagues and help us fight this.
Please follow Mum’s social media page @jet2jo to see how she will fight this will all her strength, endurance and positivity. You’ve got this Mum!
