Joanie Can Take A Punch……But

Our Dear Friend and heroine Joan Guiffre China, originally from Amsterdam, New York is in the fight of her life.

Like a prize fighter looking to “go the distance”, she has absorbed a battery of withering body blows but remains standing.

Round 1 Brought the diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia in May of 2022, which necessitated many rounds of chemo therapy accompanied by a protracted hospitalization for over 13 weeks.

Round 2 Joan received a life saving bone marrow transplant which has left her severely immune compromised to this day.

Round 3 Brought complications-some anticipated, some not, which included:

Pneumonia and RSV infections which have left her needing supplemental oxygen.

C-Diff- Graft Disease-- Cellulitis all caused by weakened immune system.

Paralyzed Diaphragm-Partially collapsed right lung

Trachea Partially collapsed requiring surgery when strong enough.

Several Platelet-Blood transfusions and now on over 22 medications per day.

Round 4 After finishing these exhausting treatments Joan was informed in October of 2022 that her home in Daytona Florida fell victim to Hurricane Ian and now held nearly 2 feet of water, rendering it uninhabitable and needing to be rebuilt.

Round 5 Several months later with their rental house lease up, they are struggling to find affordable housing near the hospital for ongoing treatment.

“If not for bad luck she’d have no luck at all.”

Throughout the onslaught of punches dished out by the tag team of compromised health and mother nature’s wrath, Joan remains battered but, adamant in her resolve.

At this point, Joan could use some support from the crowd in her corner to help her rally.

We are hoping to raise money for expenses that she and her husband Gary have incurred during her treatment and recovery which include Medical expenses, medical travel, extended housing, and help to rebuild their devastated home.

Round 6: A strong show of crowd support will give Joan a much deserved boost that will see her still standing in the ring at the end of this fight.
