HELP JODI HANSON IN HER FIGHT AGAINST CANCER
Donation protected
Sometimes life is hard to figure out, challenges and obstacles arise that were never in our plans. Following a surgical procedure on April 13, 2022, Jodi was diagnosed with cancer; needless to say, this was unexpected and very devastating news for her to hear. Jodi was referred to an oncologist in Gainesville and underwent major surgery on May 23rd. She has since been referred to a radiation oncologist in The Villages and will begin radiation treatments once she is fully recovered from surgery and a treatment plan has been developed.
While Jodi is a very private person and is reluctant to ask for help, we have created this Go Fund Me account to help support her with her cancer struggle as we believe her needs will become greater than she realizes. Even with insurance, expenses can add up. We are hopeful we can help generate funds to directly assist her with uncovered out-of-pocket medical expenses such as co-pays, prescriptions, special diet, and additional travel expenses that she will incur when she begins radiation treatments.
Jodi’s sister Nicole, who resides in Wisconsin, unselfishly took a 30-day leave of absence without pay to travel to Florida to assist her before and after surgery with much needed physical and emotional support that only a sister can provide. With your donations, Jodi also hopes to help her sister with her loss of income and expenses incurred during her travel and time in Florida.
Jodi has worked for Lake County in the county commission office for more than 25 years.
“Very few people know the impact Jodi has had on county government. I would not have accomplished anything without her fantastic support and input.” notes former Commissioner Catherine Hanson.
“Jodi’s dedication and loyalty as a county employee is surpassed only by her kind heart and sweet disposition. She is a lovely lady and I ask everyone to please be generous with your financial support to help her through this life-threatening battle.” Former Commissioner Jimmy Conner
From former commissioner Elaine Renick:
“It was such a pleasure to work with Jodi. You could always count on Jodi to be a smiling face in the commissioners’ office, and she was so good at her job—professional and conscientious. Truly one of the county’s best employees!”
“As a new Commissioner in 2020 (and new to local government in general) I would have been lost without my assistant Jodi. She took the time to really understand how I wanted things scheduled and then made them happen. She also knew what were the most important things I needed to tackle first and gently let me know! I also learned not to be so anxious to respond to my email because if she saw something that needed done, she took care of it before I could get to it. Amazing! I am forever grateful for her counsel and wish her a quick and speedy recovery!” Commissioner Doug Shields
“Jodi is the consummate professional, and her guidance at the county commission has been absolutely crucial.” - Commissioner Josh Blake
“Jodi has been more than a friend to me over the span of 20 years – she’s been like a sister. We worked together in the Commissioners’ office and have kept in touch since my retirement in 2016. I can describe Jodi as professional, true, honest, kind, faithful and loving … and a very private person who doesn’t like the idea of all this emphasis on her at this time. But, she understands there are those of us who love her and want to help in any way we can. If you can’t make a monetary donation, reach out to her in other ways … a phone call, a card, a meal, or anything to let her know she’s thought about.” Grace Watson, former employee/Lake County Board of County Commissioners
“Jodi taught me and supported me through four years of being a county commissioner. She is the nicest, the most unselfish, giving, humble, and professional person I’ve had the privilege to know. She deserves all the help we can give her. Love you, Jodi.” Former Commissioner Linda Stewart
Jodi has given her life to serve others. She has been a friend to many and always ready to step up and help out. Now is the time for all of us to return the love and support Jodi has so freely given. Please join the effort to help her through this difficult time. She needs your prayers AND dollars.
