Help Jodi with Medical Expenses from Brain Tumor Surgery

Hello! I am Debi, one of Jodi Gaul’s  older sisters. Some of you may already know that Jodi was taken by ambulance on Feb 12th after waking up confused and not feeling well. After a long day in the Emergency Department and multiple tests, they found a mass along with fluid on the brain on the back of her head. They determined that the best course of action would be to have her go to the twin cities to the U of M to treat her tumor and fluid. Her along with her kids, Owen, Jamie and Peter, had a video call with the Neurosurgeon on Friday and came up with a plan to take care of the fluid on the brain on Feb 28, with a stay at the hospital for 1-2 days and then she will be going back down to remove the tumor a month later. The good news is, the surgeon is fairly confident the tumor is a Vestibular Schwannoma - a benign tumor that grows from the lining of nerves. He believes it is this because of the location of the tumor and because of Jodi’s hearing loss and imbalance. The removal of the tumor is quite extensive and will require a large medical team for the best outcome. She will need to stay in the hospital 3-5 days and will require physical therapy before and after the surgery.

After finding out about the tumor it made sense of what has been happening to Jodi, loss of hearing, confusion, memory loss, motor skills etc, which she marked up to getting older, as we all do. Jodi has a long road ahead of her but she is taking it as she has taken everything else in her life, one day at a time and determined to fight thru.

When Jodi was asked if we could set up a Go Fund Me page she was very reluctant as she knows her family, friends and community has done so much for her family already with her husband Nuz’s terminal cancer journey and son in-law Joes brain cancer, an on going journey. After talking thru things, she agreed she will need help with medical and travel expenses, as she is not working at this time. Jodi asks for prayers for her and her doctors.
