Help Jody and Family Recover from ICU Battle
Donation protected
One 12/31/24, my sister, Jody Hanson, went in for a routine gallbladder removal surgery. However, complications arrived shortly after she got home that same day. She was in so much pain she couldn’t hardly move. Her husband, Kyle, took her back to the hospital, just under an hour away, when she wasn’t getting better. Her blood pressure had dropped extremely low and her heart rate was extremely high. It was determined that she had developed Sepsis and was in Septic Shock and she was placed in the ICU. The following morning they decided to take her to surgery again. After complications getting into surgery, they opened her up, found the source if the infection, repaired her and thoroughly cleaned her out. Her body was left open and a wound vac left in place. Upon returning to the ICU she was resisting the ventilator and loosing blood oxygen and had to be placed in a medically induced coma. After five days of healing she taken back for another surgery to close her body up. Following that procedure, she was back to the ICU and spent three more days in a medically induced coma. Upon waking up it took her three more days in the ICU before she could be moved to a regular hospital room. She is progressing slowly daily, regaining movement in her arms, legs and even talk again. She has a long way to go, however, her fighting spirit has come out and she’s ready to be sent to a rehab facility, hopefully on 1/22 or 1/23 for between 7-10 days.
Jody has two small children, ages 6 & 5, and this has been such a hard time for them. At this point they are going to have to put the kids in an after school program so Jody can recover. They going to have to install a walk in shower in the bathroom to prevent future falls. Jody’s life has changed dramatically and only the future knows how this will all turn out. Kyle has missed three weeks of work at this point and will have to miss more before he can get back. The medical bills are going to be very expensive.
If you feel lead to help her family out during this time of need please donate what you can. No donation is too small or too big. Jody and family, appreciates every thought, prayer, and donation you’re able to give.
