Support Joe and Catherine After Eaton Canyon Fire

Hello my name is Tamiko Hunter, a resident of Arizona, and the daughter of Joe (80yrs) and Catherine Ellison (78yrs). Joe was an Army Veteran and laborer, and Catherine worked for Teacher’s Insurance and later on with the Pasadena Unified School District. They lost their home which they’d had for over 50 years and all their possessions due to the Eaton Canyon Fire in Altadena, California. My older sister and I were born and raised in that home, so it was literally heartbreaking seeing it completely destroyed in a moment. In that home over the years we’ve held two family wedding receptions (one being my own), celebrated many holidays, anniversaries, had family gatherings, and made so many memories. My parents, who are also grandparents of 4, and great grandparents of 2, have always been very loving and giving people, always lending a helping hand both physically and financially to family, friends, and neighbors. My parents worked hard to ensure that our family was never in need. Although over time, my father’s military service, warehouse, and moving work unfortunately took a toll on his knees and back so he’s no longer able to work. In the fire, they lost almost everything except for the clothes they were wearing and the few items they could carry with them. Furniture, clothes, shoes, family photo albums, important documents, etc were all lost. And after working hard their whole lives and being retired, now they’ve got to start all over. Your donations would greatly help them to get back on their feet after losing so much and give them some ease during this very stressful and discouraging time while they find a path forward.
