Help Joe Mevo fight Brain Cancer!!!

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart to share the journey of our beloved mate Joe, who at 47 has recently been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour. As you can imagine this diagnosis has turned the Mevissen family's world upside down and the challenges ahead are daunting!! So many people know Joe either through his family, growing up with him, from his work, his various hobbies like bike riding and rock climbing. You may know him thought his beautiful wife Alana or his wonderful kids Kai who is 17 and just finished his year 12 studies and also is a drummer in a rock band!! Or you may know him through his gorgeous daughter Holly who just turned 16 got her L's and can't wait for her dad to teach her to drive!! Or lastly but defiantly not leaset the baby of the family Summer who is 11 and not a baby anymore she is just about to finish primary school and head off to high school next year. She has so many tricks to show you with her dancing I can only dream of being able to do half of the things she can!! It doesn't matter how you know Joe I think everyone who meets him knows what a great guy he is with a great sense of humour and the warmest friendly presence you can't help being his mate! So many people have reached out to me and asked how they can help the family at this time, and I think the best thing we can do it try and make this journey they are on a little easier financially. Predominately I am starting this Go Fund Me campaign to help raise funds for his medical expenses, travel costs and living expenses during this difficult time.

The Diagnosis:
After experiencing serious migraines on Holly's 16th birthday in late October Joe was admitted to Gold Coast Hospital where scans located a brain tumour the size of a peach. After having surgery on the 1st of November to remover some of the tumour and perform further tests the doctors have determined that it is an Grade IV AstroCytoma. A very aggressive brain cancer they are still waiting on further tests to determine more about the tumour but at this stage he will be starting chemotherapy immediately.

The medical journey ahead is full of uncertainty, and each treatment comes with its own set of challenges.

Financial Burden:
The financial burden of medical treatments, frequent travel to the hospital, and the inability to work during this time is overwhelming! Joe will be unable to drive for at least 6 months after having brain surgery and Alana is self-employed so if she isn’t able to work she doesn’t get paid! She will be doing her best to keep working but any help towards the day to day living costs when she is providing care to Joe and the family would be greatly appreciated. Any help that you can provide that can be used for the following
• Medical Expenses: Cost of specific medications and any supplemental treatment.
• Travel Costs: Fuel for trips to Southport to the hospital and PARKING!!!
• Living Expenses: While the family fights for Joes life!!

How You Can Help:
We kindly ask for your support in any amount you can give. Every dollar counts and will go directly to helping Joe and his family navigate this challenging time.

If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your networks would mean the world to us!

Updates and Gratitude:
I will endeavour to provide updates on Joe's progress throughout this journey.

Your support will not only aid in the logistical challenges but will also bring hope and love during this tough time.

Thank you for taking the time to read Joe’s story and for considering helping. Your compassion and kindness can make an incredible difference in his battle against this disease.
