Help Joel become Self Sustaining

My name is Joel and I live off grid in the desert.

I am asking for critically needed assistance with my future, immediate and forward.

I am currently, and have been for some time, disabled and unemployed; this is due to my inability to work and due to my chronic long-term health problems. I have been in the process of gaining my disability benefits (Social Security) and hope to reach the end of that difficult process sooner than later. This process has been going on for several years. I have experienced many adversities including a myriad of physical health issues (some long time chronic health issues, some exacerbated by COVID), emotional spiritual health issues, being unhoused, loss of income, loss of stability, lack of self sufficiency over the course of these past few years and over the course of my lifetime. It has been a struggle with which I have ever only survived with help from family, friends and my community.

My goals are to regain and maintain a better level of health, better ability to maintain doctor appointments with reliable and consistent transportation, support my nutrition with continuous access to food security and implementation of a specific diet which is somewhat cost prohibitive, explore self sustaining options of eventual part time education/employment, access ability to communicate with support network and health care professionals along with disability benefits administration and most important: gain and maintain self supporting sustainability and stability in my housing and a find a place to safely call home on this earth.

In the last few months especially, I have been fortunate to have the support of my family, friends and community; including transitioning into a stable environment and housing situation, beginning to address my medical needs, and food and love from many people.

In order to accomplish my goals going forward, I need several expensive things that at this time, I am unable to afford. In order attain internet access to make appointments, access healthcare, complete disability determination process, beginning to find options for at home part time employment, etc; I need to purchase solar energy equipment to support communications service requirements. This requires me to buy or attain several panels, batteries, and everything in between. I also need to have refrigeration to safely maintain my health plan diet and for possible new medications in the upcoming months. I am also working towards regaining the ability to drive and need to find and acquire a reliable, functional vehicle to make in town trips for supplies and longer trips to see specialist doctors. There are other items I need in order to continue my journey forward in life and achieve consistent self sustainability by growing my own food, reducing utility expenses, learning holistic medicine alternatives and implementing my plans of farming herbs/vegetables/etc (and eventual manufacturing of harvests into lotions, creams, soaps, et cetera) in order to treat my own health problems naturally, and to hopefully be able to supplement my eventual income with this farming business.

Any money donated to my cause will be used firstly for electric system needs and purchasing a vehicle and all that comes with that, and anything above and beyond will be invested in my housing and utility needs. If anyone in my local community can offer assistance with any of these items, expertise, or with transportation to town, etc, I would be so appreciative.

My dream is to live a life that is as physically comfortable for my medical issues, as “clean living" and holistic as possible, and as independent and self sufficient as possible.
