Help Joel get overseas treatment and beat cancer!

Donation protected

My brother, Joel Pearson, at just 16 received the devastating news that he had Pelvic Osteoblastic Osteosarcoma, a rare and stubborn cancer only found in 5% of osteosarcoma patients.

Joel was born and raised in Yorkshire where his life-long dream was to be a professional racing driver and to compete in Formula 1. With a lot of hard work commitment, he was on his way to forming a career in motorsport after competing in 2 seasons of the Ginetta Junior Championship at just 14! Joel was meant to be stepping up and competing in British Formula 4 starting in march 2020 but due to his diagnosis, he has had to postpone his dream of competing in single-seater race cars and start chemotherapy to help shrink his tumour.

He is now 17 and after almost 9 months of chemotherapy, the tumour is responding well but cannot be completely eradicated by chemotherapy alone. Joel requires Carbon Ion Therapy, a radiation treatment that only 6 centres worldwide can give him. Unfortunately, this is a treatment where the funding is not available on the NHS and cannot be performed in the UK. Because of this, we have had consultations with many of the centres worldwide and have been accepted by Heidelberg Cancer Centre in Germany

The Heidelberg centre in Germany is where, with your help, Joel will receive specialist treatment that will take over 7 weeks to complete whilst needing daily treatment together with more chemotherapy during his stay.

Costs to cover the treatment start at £270,000 and will increase with any additional MRI/ CT scans/ Chemotherapy and blood transfusions. It is appreciated that the cost is high and have therefore sent the target to £100,000 to help cover the initial costs so Joel can obtain the treatment necessary.

With love and hope,

Abi xxx
