Help Joel Lucas through Leukemia Treatment

Hi, my name is Sarah Wasserman, and I’m fundraising on behalf of my dear family friends Joel and Michele Lucas. Joey was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on July 1st. What he thought was joint pain bothering him for a few weeks turned out to be much more severe than he could have imagined. With the additional discovery of blood clots, he was airlifted from Medford, OR to Portland, OR, to receive intensive specialized treatment at OHSU.

 

Michele, and Joey’s twin sister, Carey, drove the 4 hours up to Portland to support him through his in-patient medical care. He’ll be receiving aggressive chemotherapy treatment over the next 30 days.

 

Joey is not able to work through this time, and Michele has stopped working as well to care for Joey and all the details that go along with such a severe medical condition. While Joey receives treatment, Michele and Carey will be living in a hotel for the next 30 days, incurring those expenses as well as meals and transportation expenses.

 

We're hoping to fundraise to minimize the financial impact on Joey and Michele as they navigate this scary, stressful time. Thanks for anything you can give to help out two special people.
