Help Joella & family during her battle against lung cancer.

For those of you that don't know my sister, Joella was diagnosed with Primary Lung Cancer, more specifically lung adenocarcinoma a week ago, just 20 months after being diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (breast cancer). She spent all of 2023 in treatment for breast cancer. She had a Lumpectomy to remove the cancer, 5 months of Chemotherapy, and 15 rounds of radiation. She was just starting to get her energy back and feeling like herself again when she got this recent lung cancer news. She has 4 boys, ages 23, 20, 13 & 10 who all still live at home, and a fiancé who she has been with for 16 years. She is the caregiver for her oldest son that has Autism, and is obsessed with her 3 dogs.
The doctors found the nodule in the upper lobe of her right lung while treating her for breast cancer in 2022. She had a lung biopsy done. At first the doctor said it was cancer, but the send out results showed that it wasn’t cancer. The plan was to monitor the nodule every 6 months. During her last routine CT SCAN it showed that the nodule had grown. She then had to have a PET scan and another lung biopsy. The lung biopsy confirmed that the nodule in her right lung was cancer. She will need a pretty serious surgery to have the entire upper lobe of her right lung removed. Which is scheduled August 7th. She will spend 2-4 days in ICU of the hospital in Pittsburgh recovering before she will be allowed to go home. Once at home she will have a long recovery ahead of her. Her doctor told her to plan for 2 months of help with her children, meals, housework, and she won’t even be able to take care of herself, let alone work.
It is very difficult being the youngest sister & knowing, potentially I will see all my older siblings get sick. Never did I think I would only be 38 years old & hear that my sister had CANCER not once but twice! It is crazy to even fathom due to her always taking good care of her body with working out, eating healthy & never even being a smoker!
I wanted to do this for her and her family because I wanted to help take some of the financial burden that comes with a cancer diagnosis off her and her family. We don’t know yet if she will need to have Chemotherapy again, how long her recovery will be or if her fiancé will have to take unpaid time off of his job to care for her and their children while she recovers.
I understand if you're not in a position to donate… but you can still help by sending positive thoughts/vibes or prayers for her and her family.
