It is with a heavy and saddened heart that I even am creating this GoFundMe. The world lost an amazing, funny, and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend to so many.

Joel Matejka left us suddenly in the morning of June 24, 2024. As countless of you know, this was unexpected and tragic loss to us all. Joel was beloved by so many. His gift was brightening a day through a classic Joel-hug, or high-five or sarcastic humor.

With this sudden loss, Joel's wife, Lori, and daughter, Peyton have the unbearable task of moving forward without their husband and father. Unfortunately, this means that while Lori and Peyton are mourning this loss, they also have the burden of funeral and burial costs. In addition, they will be losing medical insurance on June 30th, 2024. As many of you may not know, Lori has been facing her own chronic health challenges for numerous years. She has prescriptions she needs to buy and has planned future medical procedures (a hip replacement surgery is scheduled in August) that were only covered by Joel's health insurance he carried for the family.

This fundraiser is an attempt to bless Lori and Peyton, in the best way that we can, with support to help cover the mortgage, monthly bills, funeral costs, medical bills that they will be paying out-of-pocket for as well as paying off Peyton's college school loans.
