Help Joe's Ice Cream Build an Outdoor Parklet!

Joe’s Ice Cream has been serving the Richmond community since 1959 as a unique, family-friendly place to enjoy fresh homemade ice cream and quality hamburgers together.  We have always grown alongside our community, providing sweet treats and heartfelt memories to generations and generations with our long history.  

Thanks to the continuous support from our community, we have been surviving through the pandemic.  Unfortunately, many of our beloved small businesses in San Francisco have been shutting down permanently during the pandemic. We have been fearful and struggling as well, with only the option of to-go orders for most of the pandemic.  But with our family members and hard working staff, and community support, we never gave up and even worked on interior improvement and rebranding, with the hope of serving our neighborhood for many years to come.

To adapt to outdoor-seating and to-go order restrictions, many businesses have built outdoor parklets for their customers to enjoy food safely. We would also love to build an outdoor parklet that will provide a comfortable place for our customers to enjoy our food and ice cream. This parklet will help immensely as it opens up our store to more of our community while providing a safe area for customers to eat. We currently have a beautiful parklet design from Alec Hawley, who has been helping small businesses to build their parklets. Unfortunately, we are still struggling from the impacts of covid, so any help towards this parklet will be greatly appreciated.

Our goal is to raise funds to build an outdoor parklet in two parking spaces in front of Joe’s Ice Cream. Your generous donation will help us build beautiful planters, counters and benches, colorful fences, and make fun character stencils for the floor.  We are planning to start building the parklet in 2 weeks if we can raise enough funds to start. We are also contacting local artists to draw murals on the parklet wall, so this parklet project will support local artists as well!
