Help John and JJ Find a Safe Home

My name is Keighley and this is my neighbor, “John.” John needs our help.

John is an 89 year old disabled veteran, and what should be his golden years have become a nightmare. His son who was previously his live-in caretaker has abandoned him, stealing his phone, his car, and his social security check in the process. The son told people John was dead, and left him all alone in the house for 12 straight days with no way to get help.

John and his beloved dog JJ need a better situation ASAP. Any funds raised will go towards John’s immediate health and safety such as hiring biohazard cleaners, re-keying the locks, fixing things around the house, and maybe even a powered wheelchair if we are really lucky.

My pie in the sky goal is to get him into a new living situation where he can be cared for but still have his best friend JJ by his side. This would involve being able to make any deposits and up front payments on a new place, then getting the house in shape to sell. If this thing really takes off, funds will be placed in trust where only John can access so we can make sure he’s set for life.

I have seen the power of social media in full force recently in my own community here in Pittsburgh and I hope to repeat that success for John. His birthday is coming up this spring, let’s give him a great surprise. Thank you!
