Help John DeHart in his road to stroke recovery

Donation protected

On September 25th, my dad John DeHart had a hemorrhagic stroke. In terms of strokes, hemorrhagic strokes are the worst kind you can have and have a very high mortality rate. After being put on the ventilator for about a week, we were able to finally talk to dad- though he was definitely impaired, he was at least back with us. However, the stroke left him without use of the left side of his body, including his arm and leg. He hasn’t been home since the accident, rehabbing in a few different facilities in the hopes of returning to as normal a life as he can. Additionally, since this has happened, my dad has had no income as we wait for disability to finally kick in - Tracy has been working all day and then driving to the hospital to spend time with dad.

This whole ordeal came as a shock to me and my stepmom Tracy, as the person who we could always bank on being there for us needed us to be there for him all of a sudden. As my dad and Tracy look ahead to adjusting to a new lifestyle, with it are going to come costs to help enable this including handicap accessibility improvements, training, and equipment needed to make life easier on them.

If you know my dad John DeHart, you also know that if you ever needed anything he’d be the first one in line to help you. He’d never ask for anyone’s help, but I am well aware of how much my dad is loved by his friends, family, coworkers and colleagues. I’m asking you to help out a little bit during the holiday season as we plan to transition dad back into the real world.
