Help John Get TPLO Surgery
Donation protected
A few months ago John began limping on his back leg which quickly progressed to him completely holding the leg up and walking three-legged. Obviously, this was very concerning to me as he had knee surgery in the past to repair a Luxating Patella. I was hoping he just needed a tune-up on his surgery from seven years ago. After consulting his vet, I took him to the orthopedic specialists at PVSEC and they quickly diagnosed him with a torn ACL. The best and most permanent solution is TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) surgery which is fortunately a very common and successful surgery but is unfortunately very expensive.
John has been on pain medication and limited mobility since his first vet visit. He is obviously in constant pain and it's breaking my heart. He is also unable to play or go for walks. If he doesn't have this surgery, he will have to live like this for the rest of his life and I can't bear to put him through that. John is eight years old and has shown zero signs of slowing down, other than the pain that he is in. I know that if he is able to have this surgery he will have many happy years of partying ahead of him.
As many of you know, I recently quit my job as a Funeral Director to focus completely on my business. While I did plan and prepare for this personal transition, I could have never anticipated this issue or the huge financial burden it would potentially put on me. Asking for help, especially financially, does not come easy to me but it's become a last resort. If this campaign is funded it will cover John's surgery completely, even if it comes out on the higher end of the estimate. It will also allow me to pay someone to help care for him during his eight-week recovery so that I may still work.
Many of you know and love John just as much as I do. I am very fortunate to have this dog in my life. The amount of comfort and joy that he has brought me in the last eight years is incalculable. Please consider donating to his surgery fund so that I can assure the second half of his life is as fulfilling as the first.
