Help John Henshaw's Family in Their Time of Need

Hello, my name is Kathy Henshaw Collier. I am John's first cousin. I've created this GoFundMe in hopes of easing a little of the financial burden on Johns' wife and daughter, as a result of his unexpected death.

My cousin John passed away unexpectedly on Thursday - November 21, 2024 of cardiac arrest as he walked into the lobby of the UVA Orange Dialysis Clinic. John had to have dialysis six days a week. He literally died, trying his hardest to live.

After an initial heart attack a few years back, the medical bills poured in as John's health declined greatly, so much so that he was on the kidney transplant waiting list with UVA Transplant Team. Several family members were in the process of testing to see if one would be a match for a kidney that would hopefully improve his quality of life. His body was too beaten down to wait long enough for that to happen. In the process of his health failing him, he lost almost everything, amount them his ability to work, so in turn he lost his ability to support his family of six which consist of his wife Rita, his son "Skeeter", his daughter Kasey, and two grandbabies, Wyatt and Miya.

Now that John is gone that leaves his wife Rita and daughter Kasey with expenses they cannot cover, including a funeral. They are no longer able to keep their shared home (they rent) that they had downsized to during his illness. The family of six are now spreading out in three separate directions due to financial hardship. Johns' wife Rita has been trying to sell anything she can think to sell, even placing Johns beloved Harley Davidson up for sale. Kasey takes every extra shift possible at work, working six days a week.

Anyone that knew John, knows he was a hardworking, proud man, that would do anything for anybody. It would destroy him to see his family struggling like this. I hate to see his family suffer additional hardship in addition to losing John.

In honor of him, I'm trying to give back to the man who gave so much of himself. Helping his family is the best way I know how. If you are able to help, any contribution would be appreciated. They are truly losing everything, including each other.
