Help John Wyrick Fight Cancer!

John Wyrick has been fighting chordoma for almost a decade, and we are determined to continue the fight against this rare form of bone cancer. Despite a variety of treatments he’s received over the years, the tumors have begun to grow again, preventing him from continuing with the trial at Johns Hopkins. This growth has not only fractured his hip, dramatically impacting his mobility, but has also begun pinching the sciatic nerve, causing excruciating pain in his hip, legs, and feet. John is an excellent candidate for systemic treatment trials from New York to Texas, but the travel required to participate in these studies has become an obstacle in his cancer journey. It is impossible for him to sit for even a short period of time without experiencing unbearable pain, so we are raising money to purchase a van he can comfortably climb into that has the space for him to lay down as he travels. When we are able to accommodate John’s travel needs, nothing will stand in the way of continuing treatment in a new trial. The patients in the trials John has applied to have overwhelmingly had success in shrinking chordoma tumors. Reducing the tumors is crucial to relieving the sciatic nerve pain as well as reopening the door to hip surgery, which is not currently a viable next step due to the size, location, and growth of the tumors. Hip surgery will restore his mobility, allowing him to walk, sit, drive, and enjoy the outdoors and hobbies that he’s had to miss out on for too long.
