Help John & Karey Nicely
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Donna Nicely and I am fundraising for my son and his wife, John and Karey Nicely. The funds raised will be used to help John and Karey support themselves at this difficult time for the foreseeable future.
On September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian struck Sanibel Island head on. John and Karey moved to Sanibel Island in 2021. They loved their close-knit community and residents of Sanibel. They felt like they had found their, “Forever Home.” The community of Sanibel was informed by officials that Ian was to have skirted and moved further north. By the time Ian turned directly towards Sanibel, there was very little time for them to gather personal items. They were able to collect only a few days worth of clothing as they holy expected to return to their home within a few days. Everything else has been destroyed. John and Karey’s lives have been completely uprooted as the devastation from the 5th largest U.S. hurricane to make landfall caused. The community and residents have been informed the entire infrastructure (water, sewer, electric and transportation) has been destroyed and it could be up to a year, possibly more, before the residents are allowed back to live. They, like many residents of Southern Florida, are now homeless. John was not able to collect most of his tools of his trade as a licensed contractor, his tools are his lifeblood.
Any help you can offer or give would be greatly appreciated.
