Help Johnny Have a New Smile Post-Cancer

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Matthew and I am fundraising for my best friend since I was 5 years old, Johnny Sullivan. Before I start with his story. I want to let you know the fundraiser is for him to get full dental implants. The cost of the operation, including anesthesiology, professional charge for extractions, post inserts, and creating temporary and permanent dental implants was estimated to be $44,000-$47,000. The operation would be done at a facility in Tampa, FL called New Teeth Now (Link below). Any excess donations, after the cost of the operation is paid for, will be donated to John Hopkins All Children Hospital in Tampa, FL.

The morning of September 11, 2001, is a day we all will never forget. This same day was Johnny's 5th birthday and the day that he was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma. This is cancer that forms in soft tissue and spread throughout Johnny's sinus and nasal passages. Johnny went through treatment including chemotherapy and radiation therapy from 9/11/2001 - 12/10/2002. At just over 6 years old, Johnny beat cancer!

Sadly, what Johnny and his family didn't know, was the after-effects of his cancer and the stunt it would put on him growing up. Cancer and treatment left Johnny with some changes in his body that would stick with him as an adult. He has always been severely underweight, had vocal issues, and most importantly his teeth were destroyed due to the treatment. As you can see from the pics above, his teeth have been through a lot. He can hardly eat anything remotely solid without immense pain or damaging them into much-needed repair. So far Johnny has had 11 crowns put on, 6 of which are on the top front teeth canine-to-canine; a couple of hundred fillings, which is no longer a viable option for repair; and never grew wisdom teeth due to the radiation.

Now at 24 years old, my best friend, who is much too prideful to ask for help himself, needs any support to help him pay for a new set of teeth. Johnny is the kindest person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and in my opinion, it's not fair that Johnny did the impossible, he beat cancer, and now must choose to either live with the consequences of treatment or be forced into a debt that most people wouldn't be able to climb out of.

Anything that you can do for this fundraiser, whether it be donating or sharing, would mean the world to Johnny and his family. Absolutely anything helps. Johnny will be getting some temporary stuff done in the meantime, such as more crowns, and I will keep everyone updated on his status while we do our best to raise money for him.

Thank you to everyone who read his story, and to those that can help us in any way. Godbless.
