Help Jojo & Evey Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
Jojo & Evey need our help!
On Monday, July 16, around 8:45am, a fire broke out in the attic due to an electrical shortage while Jojo & Evey were away at the Oregon Country Fair. Fortunately, Jojo’s sister was watching the home and called the fire department right away. Their two cats and most of their possessions were unharmed. However, the roof was severely damaged and the unit is now unlivable. Their landlord estimates it may take a full year before they could *possibly* return. In the meantime, they will need financial assistance to cover moving costs, storage, gas, cat food, etc.
Jojo’s statement:
”I had just recently graduated community college and we were/are both working as freelance artists. We don’t have any savings right now and are open to commissions! I’m happy to send an 8x11” print of my art for donations of $25 and up. Also contributions in the form of buying prints off big cartel are great as well.” - Stick Around Art “I feel so leveled, I had just reached uncharted stability in this home after over a year of dedicated hard work, refurbishing and furnishing this historic home which has passed through many generations of punks and wierdos. We have/had a great relationship with our landlord who saw the way we cherished and bettered this living space, and we were so excited to be able to open it up to our community as a safe haven for traveling performers and creatives in the heart of SE Pdx… I would look out my window each morning and feel like I was finally living out my dreams, it’s so wild how quickly everything could have been lost, and while I realize I have a lot to be greatful for in this, I’m so devastated to be losing this home, I want to trust that we can build something beautiful like this again, and to be able to offer a space for creative thriving, but right now, we really need the support of our community ”
