Help Jolene Pay for Facial Feminization Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jolene Borucki. I'm a 23-year-old trans woman, and I'm pursuing various surgeries to alleviate my debilitating gender dysphoria. The most crucial of these is my facial feminization surgery (FFS), which I currently have scheduled for September 1st of this year. In order to afford this exorbitantly expensive surgery, I have been working as a barista at my local Starbucks for the past year and a half. Their trans health care plan was the most comprehensive of any entry-level position I was qualified for, so I have been working hard to secure coverage for my FFS. I was assured that everything besides travel/lodging fees, pre-surgery bloodwork and x-rays would be fully covered by their plan.
I was blindsided when I realized that my surgery clinic required a $7,500 out-of-pocket deposit, as a cautionary measure in case my insurance coverage falls through. This deposit can not be paid through my health plan, I have to come with it myself. Unfortunately, I am a college student working a part-time job at Starbucks, and this is far out of my reach. I lost my secondary source of income earlier this year, as my second, on-campus part time job decided not to pay me the stipend I was supposed to receive for the position. At the same time, my hours got severely cut at Starbucks due to a company-wide labor shortage. My credit score fell over 150 points in just two months from delinquent bill payments. I maxed out two separate credit cards just trying to pay for food, gas and bills. When I was at my very lowest financially, I was told that I had to come up with $7,500 if I want to get the surgery I've been working towards all this time.
I do not come from money. There is no family member or friend I can reach out to that would be able to pay for this. My credit is in such a bad place that no bank would approve me for a personal loan. My credit cards are all maxed out. Please help me.
Any donations I receive will go directly to paying this deposit, which is due August 1st (a month before my surgery date). On the off chance they exceed what I'm asking for, the excess will help me with my loss of income during my recovery, paying for other related medical fees, and help me to stabilize my finances so I can afford future surgeries. I have been working so hard just to feel at peace with my own body, and it would be devastating if I had to start the process all over again from scratch.
