In Loving Memory of Jon Eric Klemens
Donation protected
We lost our father, Jon Klemens, on the morning of June 9th, 2020, after a long and hard-fought battle with metastatic neuroendocrine cancer.
There was truly no one else on earth like our dad: equal parts loving, sensitive, bombastic, exasperating, funny, and weird as hell. He is so missed and deeply loved, and it has helped our family immensely to hear everyone's wonderful memories of him. So many have echoed the same sentiment: that he loved and was so proud of his family. Jon leaves behind our mother, Linda, as well as his four children, Courtney, Drew, Lindsey, and Kristen, his son-in-law Chip, and his beloved four-legged baby, Piper.
Jon kept so much of his illness private, wanting his friends and family to know and remember him as we do: the larger-than-life, happy-go-lucky guy who loved making others feel special. Few but our close family saw the toll that painful tumors took on him, to say nothing of the constant frustrations of having to navigate an increasingly complex mosaic of appointments, prescriptions, and insurance coverage.
Our mother Linda is the beneficiary of this fundraiser. Sadly, Jon's health insurance largely did not cover expenses related to his particular cancer treatments, and medical expenses had to be paid out of pocket. In addition to the emotional devastation of his loss, we are left with outstanding medical bills totaling over $8,000, with more likely to arrive. Linda is currently endeavoring to sell the home that she moved into with our father over 40 years ago in an attempt to offset the costs.
We are planning to have a memorial service in the coming months, waiting for a time when we can safely gather together to celebrate Jon's life. In the immediate future, we are asking for funds to help relieve medical and end-of-life costs. We know that Jon fought long and hard, fearful of leaving behind his wife and family uncared for. He loved our mom more than life itself, and we know he would not want her to deal with the additional stress of moving and selling the house on top of the loss of her life partner. The house where we all spent our childhood, and have so many memories of our father.
Any donation is a significant show of support for our family during this unfathomable time. We love and appreciate all who have reached out in an attempt to make this difficult time a little easier for our family. Thank you, and we love you all.
