Help Jon & Shub Guitars get back in business

In the early hours of December 27, the burger shop next door to Head Gap studio on Dundas Street, Preston was set on fire. The fire quickly spread, destroying the entire Head Gap warehouse and everything inside – including the Shub Guitars workshop, which has been based out of Head Gap since 2014.

For so many of you Jon and his business Shub Guitars will need no introduction. Over the last 20 years Jon has serviced the Melbourne music community (and Perth before that) with countless setups, modifications and repairs, not to mention his sought-after, one-of-a-kind custom handcrafted guitar builds. Anyone who’s met Jon knows that he’s not only a top-notch craftsman but is also kind, humble and incredibly generous.

Shub Guitars is Jon’s primary source of income and unfortunately, without the appropriate insurance, the destruction of his workshop poses a real threat to his livelihood. Jon isn’t the type of person to ask for help, but as his friends, loved ones, customers and community we’ve set up this fundraiser (with Jon’s consent and cooperation) to help him cover the costs of the irreparable damage caused by the fire.

Sadly a lot of the guitars, timber, and rare/vintage parts that perished in the fire are irreplaceable. But your contributions will help Jon get back on his feet, set up a temporary space to work from in the short term, and eventually a more permanent home for Shub Guitars.
