Help Jon with Medical and Prosthetic Leg

On behalf of our dear friend, Jon Hughes we are starting a “GoFundMe” page to help support his recovery. Jon has suffered a devastating loss of his Left leg due to recent medical issues that started in March 2019. 

Jon was admitted to UNC Lenior Health Care Hospital On April 18th in Kinston NC. After much deliberation by his attending physicians and family, his left leg was amputated above the knee on the 25th. It was a truly emotional roller coaster ride for all involved. 

The surgery went very well, and Jon was discharged and sent to Harmony Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kinston NC where he currently resides undergoing intensive physical therapy.  A Date/Time has not been set as of yet, to discuss his prosthetic possibilities. However, he/we are confident that this will take time and many hours of physical therapy will be devoted. But he is motivated to walk again and live his regular everyday life and get back to work.




Anyone who knows Jon knows one thing. He is one of the most genuine and outgoing people you will EVER meet. Jon throughout his life up until his sickness has always helped and sacrificed for others when they were in need. Now "HE" is in desperate need. Many of us have known Jon for most of our lives. He always maintained a hard work ethic and never asked others for help. It has been a tough transition for him to accept help from others, but he is willing and very grateful for all that care and love him deeply. 




Where YOUR money will go

Our goal is to raise $150,000 to help Jon with the following:

-- Current Hospital Bills that have not been paid

-- Physical rehabilitation costs that are not covered 

-- Home care costs (estimated at $150/day, for at least 6 months)

-- Special needs due to his new disabilities (e.g., wheelchair, accessibility adjustments to his home)

-- Living expenses/loss of income

-- Any other out-of-pocket expenses that he may incur during rehab




Our mission is clear and concise at this point. Throughout this entire campaign,  we will keep you abreast of all information and will follow up on a weekly basis.
