Help Jordan Beat Glioblastoma!
Donation protected
For those who don’t know me, I’m Brynn – Graeme’s sister and Jordan’s soon-to-be sister-in-law.
On Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, our families’ worlds were turned upside down.
Graeme received a call from Jordan at around 10 am while at work. She was lightheaded and wasn’t making much sense. Immediately concerned, he told her he was going to come get her and bring her to get checked out. After several minutes and what Jordan thought was possibly an iron deficiency, she was finally able to voice that she was ok. Not long after, she spoke with her brother, Taylor, who also expressed concern. Between Graeme and Taylor, they were able to convince her it was best to get checked out and make sure everything was ok. Graeme brought her to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Bellingham, where a CT and MRI were ordered.
After 6 long hours in the ER, they received the devastating news that Jordan, only 34 years old (35 today!) and a whole future ahead of her - had a brain tumor.
After 3 days at St. Joe’s, she was transferred to the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle where she underwent a craniotomy to remove the tumor. What we thought was a 2.7cm tumor with the possibility of a “tail” (second smaller tumor) ended up being a 4 x 6 cm tumor that went deeper than the neurosurgeon at UW felt comfortable going after (due to the potential effect on certain cognitive functions), leaving a very small part of the tumor in her brain.
Anyone that knows Jordan, knows she’s a fighter. Her strength is beyond admirable and her resolve is praiseworthy. She has kept her wittiness throughout this process. She even nicknamed the tumor “the hitchhiker” and donated it to UW for science purposes.
Graeme and Jordan met with the Oncology team last week, where they were given more information on the diagnosis and further treatment. UW Pathologists are continuing to search for more information about this particular type of rare tumor, but have labeled it a grade 3 tumor/aggressive cancer that formed in the neuroepithelial cells.
Regardless of the diagnosis, we truly believe that she’s got way too much to fight for, including her wedding in September!
I set this page up to hopefully help alleviate some of the future financial burdens for both Graeme and Jordan during this very stressful time. Every single donation, no matter the size, is helpful and appreciated. Your donations will be used for various expenses such as medical bills, prescriptions, gas money for traveling to and from Seattle, co-pays, basic needs and any other unforeseen expenses that they will undoubtedly have. If you are not in a position to donate, sharing is just as appreciated.
The outpouring of love and support that Jordan, Graeme and both of our families have received has been extremely heartwarming and humbling, to say the least.
Updates will be posted as they become available.
From the bottom of our hearts, we are truly thankful.
