Help Jordan Bishop Beat Cancer!

Dear Friends,
As some of you know, Jordan was diagnosed with Hepatosplenic T-cell Lymphoma (HSTCL) earlier this year. This came after multiple misdiagnoses and several lengthy hospital stays before she ended up at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where her team quickly diagnosed her with HSTCL and got her on a treatment plan. In the months since receiving her diagnosis Jordan has undergone several rounds of chemotherapy in Ann Arbor and has required more than a dozen transfusions during chemotherapy and while she has been at home in Grand Rapids.
Jordan’s recent scan activity is promising and hopefully sometime soon the HSTCL will be in remission and she can move on to the next step of her treatment, a bone marrow transplant. It’s important to know that Hepatosplenic T-cell Lymphoma is an incredibly rare type of cancer, with only about 200 cases written about in medical journals. Little is known about it but what is know is that Jordan’s only real solid chance at beating this is with a successful bone marrow transplant. The good news is that Jordan already has several bone marrow donor matches from around the world, some of whom are ready and currently able to help. Post-transfusion, best case scenario, Jordan will have to live in Ann Arbor for about 4 months. For the past five years Jordan has been a dedicated and doting stay-at-home mom to her son, Leo. The 4 months Jordan and Leo will spend apart will undoubtedly be difficult on both of them. Jordan, her partner Dean, and their son, have gotten by well on one income but with Jordan’s hospital stays, time off of work, and having to travel to Ann Arbor and back, the financial strain is great.
One thing we know we can do to help ease Jordan’s emotional and financial stress is by creating this GoFundMe to help lift some of the financial burden off of her shoulders during an already trying time. Currently our financial concerns are establishing funding for 4 months worth of rent in Ann Arbor, groceries and essential items, and for gas for her caretakers who will take turns driving from Grand Rapids to Ann Arbor and back to support her. Jordan and her family have already received so much love from their little community and they greatly appreciate all of the support thus far. Please continue to send your thoughts of encouragement and good vibes Jordan’s way as she continues to kick HSTCL’s ass!
Some Facts about Hepatosplenic T-Cell Lymphoma:
- It’s thought that Hepatosplenic T-Cell Lymphoma comprises less than 1% of all Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cases.
- It is rare and aggressive. It often mimics other illnesses, making it even more difficult to diagnose.
- Bone marrow transplant is the only known possible curative treatment for HSTCL, though there has been little long-term documented follow up with HSTCL bone marrow transplant recipients.
- HSTCL primarily presents itself in the liver, spleen, and bone marrow.
