Help Jordan Care for His Mother Marit Kana

Hey everyone,

My name is Jordan Aviso and I need some help. Not long ago, my mom (Marit Kana) was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She decided right away to opt out of any chemo or doing any treatments of any kind (besides a mastectomy).

Not long after surgery, the level of pain became too much for regular day-to-day life. It came to the point that one day she called me at work saying she had too much pain to even stand long enough to cook herself a meal and that she hadn’t eaten in 3 days before I realized how much and how rapidly her physical condition had declined. After finishing the contract job I was working on, I decided to move back in with her to take care of her needs.

Within 2 weeks of moving back to her house, she was put on in-home hospice care which is funded by the VA as my mom is an Army veteran. Besides the help I have dedicated to her, the VA has provided my mom a nurse that comes twice a week to the house to bring meds, medical supplies, change bandages (due to open wounds and cancer trying to come through her skin), etc., and usually stays for about 1-1.5 hrs. There is also a CNA worker that comes once a week also for about an hour to bathe her and change bedding/bandages if needed. There is also a woman that comes about 1 hour a week to help with housekeeping that I fall behind on.

Aside from the 4-6 total hours the RN, CNA, and housekeeper were here, she had no one that was able to supervise her, make her meals, change her bandages/bedding, feed her animals, and eventually, to help her change her diapers and wipe herself after her bowel movements, or give her care at all throughout the other 162 hours of the week. I have essentially given up my regular day-to-day life and have dedicated myself to making sure she is comfortable and stress-free as she makes her transition from earth to paradise. I know that if the situation was reversed and it was me in that bed, she would do the same for me and probably do it even better!

If I am being honest, I feel embarrassed to be here seemingly asking for a handout, but the reality is two months ago I stopped working completely to take care of my mom. I have had 0 income to pay my credit card bills, my credit has fallen to the wayside. Any and all help would be appreciated as well as prayers for my mother.

I have wanted the care I have been giving to my mother to be a reflection of the love she has given me throughout my life and hope you all have been blessed with a mother like mine because mothers really deserve everything and more!
