Help Jordan Recover from Guillain Barre Syndrome
Donation protected
Early Sunday morning Jordan was emergently admitted to the hospital for what the doctors termed a neurologic explosion. Saturday morning Jordan began experiencing generalized weakness. By Saturday night, Jordan had fallen spontaneously in the kitchen, but was able to pick himself up and continue with the evening. Around 4:30am Sunday morning, Jordan got up to use the bathroom, the one on the other side of the house as to not wake me. While washing his hands, his legs gave out and he fell to the floor. Unable to regain function of his legs, he crawled to the living room and called out for help. I drove him to the ER where they consulted neurology who suspected Guillain Barre Syndrome. At this time, we do not have a suspected cause and the immobility is progressing rapidly. Jordan was able to walk with a walker Sunday night with assistance, but by Monday morning he was unable to move himself in bed and has lost muscle control in his legs and arms.
As some of you know, we recently completed our first round IVF that failed. We are in the process of saving for another round, but this unexpected hospital admission has caused a bump in the road...along with another unanticipated expense. Jordan will require extensive physical therapy when he is discharged while he learns to re-walk and build up strength. Right now, the doctors think he will remain in the hospital for another 10 days, likely followed by a stay in a rehab facility. Jordan is currently completing plasma exchanges every other day and of course extensive physical therapy. We appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers, and I will do my best to keep everyone updated. This is day 3 of a long road ahead. Jesse
