Donation protected
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my story!

Introduction

My name is Jordann Sadler. I am a 23-year-old author and poet born, raised, and residing in Cincinnati, Ohio USA. I graduated from Oberlin College in 2022 and I am currently earning my Master's Degree from the University of Cincinnati. I'm also a Sagittarius! You may know me under the pen name J.V. Sadler. Early 2024, I published a collection of horror short stories Licking and a collection of poetry From My Eye To The Sky . I've also been published in several anthologies, have won local poetry contests, and had my story "A Glimpse Into Those of Whom We Have Forgotten" dramatized in the award-winning podcast NIGHTLIGHT: A Black Horror Fiction Podcast from Ransom Media Productions LLC. I was recently accepted to the prestigious Rosemary's House writer's retreat held in Sithonia, Greece. This is an amazing opportunity as I have the chance to learn from critically-acclaimed and industry-leading creatives. I will also have the chance to receive feedback from my writing peers on my work. September 6th-13th, 2024 are my attending dates with the amazing Jenny Zhang. Zhang is an award-winning writer who has been published in The New York Times and has won countless honors, residencies, and fellowships. I am humbled to have Zhang as a mentor during this retreat.

About my current work-in-progress
During the retreat, I will be workshopping a collection of poetry tentatively titled Poems That'll Make Ya Cry. The collection will feature approximately 100 poems focused on themes of social justice and the Black experience in the U.S.A. Inspired by the works and writing traditions of Langston Hughes, June Jordan, Maya Angelou, Sonia Sanchez, and more, I hope to significantly contribute to the present-day poetry community. I intend to self-publish my work but that may change as traditional publishing opportunities become available.
