Hello everyone,

My name is Joseph Shelton; I am 27 years old, use he/him pronouns, and am a proud LGBTQ+ rights advocate at home in El Paso County, Co.

I am beyond thrilled to share some incredible news with you. As many of you know, for years now, I've been dedicated to making positive changes within our community through my involvement in both local and state politics. From running for the Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education to the Colorado State Board of Education for Congressional District 5, my goal has always been to foster unity and progress at home.

Today, I'm excited to announce a new chapter in my journey. On April 6, 2024, a pivotal moment unfolded as Delegates to the 5th Congressional District of Colorado convened and selected four representatives for our community for the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC). Out of the nominees, I am deeply honored to have been chosen as one of the two males to represent Colorado's 5th Congressional District at the DNC.

This opportunity is not just a personal milestone but a chance to amplify the voices of marginalized communities on a national stage. As I prepare to head to Chicago, I am committed to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, championing the rights of disabled individuals, and fighting for the voting rights of our youth. Our community's needs must be heard and prioritized at the highest levels of government.

However, attending an event of this magnitude comes with financial challenges. The expenses, ranging from $3000 to $5000, include travel, accommodation, and other logistical costs. I'm contacting you, our incredible community, for support.
