Help Jose's Medical Care

The past 10 months have been surreal to say the least. Our whole world has turned upside down & sideways. In May, my love, my best friend, my husband, was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He went from using oxygen when he felt he needed it, to being on it 24/7. In October, he went through 85 tests, changed his diet and began a light doctor-ordered exercise routine in order to be placed on the lung transplant list. In February, Jose was admitted into ER at UC San Diego health because we were concerned about his declining health as his oxygen needs went from 8 oz to 20 oz overnight. On March 9, 2022 Jose was blessed with a double lung transplant. The road to recovery will be a long, painful one as his body adjusts to his new lungs. Jose could stay in UC San Diego Health for up to 14 days. When he is released, we will need to relocate near the hospital for three months, as he will have doctor appointments four days a week. Not once has his spirits been down, not once has he been angry. Jose is the strongest man I know. For 24 years, his hands held me when I was weak, wiped away my tears, clapped at my accomplishments, lifted me when I was down. Jose has also given back to the community by serving on the Mayor's commission board for Transportation, organizing community events, even running for city council. I humbly ask you to give to this man who has given to so many.
