Help Josh Stultz as he battles ALS
Donation protected
My name is Laura, and my dear friend Monica Baldwin’s husband Josh is battling ALS. He has been fighting this horrible disease for over 3 years now. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. It is a neuromuscular disorder that causes muscle weakness and muscle death. It affects your ability to do anything on your own. Such as talk and walk, but also simple and important things most people don’t think of including scratch your nose, pull the covers up if you are cold or roll over in bed, and even eat and swallow. Eventually breathing becomes difficult and machines are required to assist your breathing until you are no longer able to breath. ALS treatment includes therapies to help manage symptoms and slow the progression of the disease, however there is NO cure. The disease varies in how it affects each individual but the typical life span after diagnosis is 5 years.
Anyone that knows Josh knows that he has always been the life of the party, happy-go-lucky, making everyone laugh. He is a generous friend, always helping his buddies with their race cars, house projects, or whatever they need. He has and would help anyone less fortunate in any way he could. If you know him well, you know he is also a master of Jeopardy (knowing a little about a lot) and loves his truck and drag racing. Mostly he takes pride in being a loving son, brother, husband, and proud father.
As you can imagine, they have substantial medical expenses and expenses related to his day-to-day care. Some things have been covered by insurance; however, many are not. Medications, some therapies, travel for doctors' appointments, medical equipment, and most costly being in home care giver assistance that are not covered. Unfortunately, they are now at a point where he requires 24 hour care and of course Monica must continue to work in order to support the household expenses.
Being friends with Monica for over 12 years now, I know it is hard for her to ask for help. That’s why I felt the need to do this Go Fund Me. We together can help relieve part of their financial burden and support them with their continuing fight. They will be humbled and greatly appreciative of any help and support that is offered. If you are unable to give financially, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
