Help Josh Pay for His Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Deidre and I'm fundraising for any cost of Josh Freeman's kidney transplant surgery which his health insurance does not fully cover. Josh is 32 years old and has been suffering from Kidney Disease for 6 years. Unfortunately, at the beginning of this journey, he was already at stage 4 renal failure and he quickly lost complete functioning of his kidneys causing him to require dialysis treatments three times a week. As you can imagine, this has significantly impacted Josh's quality of life, preventing him from achieving some of his goals and dreams. One of the biggest impacts Josh has experienced was the decline in his mental health as he awaited a kidney donor that would change his life forever. Despite many trials, Josh continued to push through going to work to help children and families who suffer with their own mental health issues in the Emergency Department at Connecticut Children's. He displays such skill and empathy as he has worked in the mental health field for most of his career for over 13 years.
On November 25, 2021 (Thanksgiving Day), Josh received a 4am call that a new kidney had been identified for him and that he needed to get to Hartford Hospital to complete his transplant surgery. After a 6 hour surgery, Josh finally has his new kidney which is working well. While this is a wonderful reason to rejoice, there is a huge financial commitment that comes as a result. Statistics show that the total cost for kidney transplants averaged around 442,500 U.S. dollars in 2020. As you can imagine his health insurance does not cover the full cost of his kidney transport surgery, help us alleviate this financial burden and continue to improve Josh's quality of life!
