Help Support Josh's Recovery

Hello Friends --

We are raising funds to support Dr. Josh Powell's recovery. Please join us in helping Josh cover the many care-related costs over his three months of recovering from his spinal injury.

While performing his own life-saving work, Josh found himself suddenly needing his team of colleagues to save his own life. He had emergency decompression surgery on his spine. He subsequently developed a blood clot at the surgical site, requiring a second emergent surgery to relieve the pressure on his spinal cord. This pressure to the spine caused an incomplete spinal cord injury, meaning the cord was not severed. Unfortunately, complications from these two back-to-back surgeries resulted in him nearly dying and caused almost complete paralysis. Josh is a fighter though, and after 18 days in the ICU, he was well enough to get transitioned to the rehabilitation phase of his recovery.

Fortunately, Josh still has his mental acuity and engaging personality, as well as sensation throughout his body. His chances of recovery are good, but spinal cord injuries take time. Josh has already regained enough mobility to use one hand to feed himself and work an electric wheelchair. We remain hopeful for a meaningful recovery. This is why the support of his rehabilitation is critical.

We want to help Josh cover the costs of nursing care, rehabilitation therapy, medical equipment and housing while receiving targeted treatment for his injury.
