Detour’s fight with Evan’s Syndrome

Hi, my name is Cleo, and I am the Aunt of Joshua.

Thursday, we had confirmation that Joshua's blood no longer clots, and they also essentially have no immune system. While we are pending a bone marrow biopsy next week for official diagnose on the status of the low white blood cells, they did receive a diagnosis of Thrombocytopenia and Neutropenia. They had a last platelet count of 23. Joshua is a 16 year old with Autism Spectrum Disorder as well.

They have known they have been feeling unwell for awhile, and received blood testing to see what was going on. They're currently in isolation, and on status that if they spike a fever or start bleeding, they have to be life flighted to OHSU to receive critical care.

While in America it is not uncommon to need assistance with medical bills, Joshua and family are needing some assistance when it comes to transportation costs and stays with traveling from the Eugene area to Portland for the procedures, appointments, and possible stays for the journey ahead that could be going on.

It is possible Joshua will be needing a bone marrow transplant to start producing white blood cells again, and their amazing sister has already volunteered to take up the cause. All donations will help with any additional costs that can occur with the constant travel needed for the family with this unexpected health journey.
