Help Joshua and Stuart Recover After Fire

Hello wonderful people,

My name is Radha and I have the honor of being one of Joshua's soul sisters. We met in Humboldt in the early 90's, and quickly formed a bond with our close group of friends (chosen family) that has remained as strong if not stronger to this day. Together, we have been through many life events, but none as traumatic as this.

On Tuesday night, January 7, Joshua and Stuart received the evacuation notice, packed their car with their essentials, and went to a hotel. As they slept, the Palisades Fire completely demolished their entire neighborhood. Imagine waking up to the news that your home was gone. All of your family photos and keepsakes, everything, gone. Joshua and Stuart worked for years to turn their fixer upper mobile home into a place of comfort, peace, and safety for all. They housed a Ukrainian refugee in 2022 and proudly flew the Ukraine flag in front of their home ever since. They welcomed guests regularly, treating them like family, making delicious meals and leaving slippers on their bed. Their home, their entire mobile home park, was a community in the truest sense of the word. Neighbors lending neighbors tools, meeting up for walks to the beach, making plans to meditate together, giving each other rides. This entire beautiful community, burned to the ground.

Joshua has always been the first to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or make you feel like the most important person in the room. It’s our turn to support him and Stuart as they begin the hard work of rebuilding their lives—finding a new place to live, replacing essentials, and navigating the long process of waiting for assistance from insurance and the state of California.
