Help Joshua get a new heart!!!

Hi, my name is Brittany and I am fundraising for the love of my life Joshua. Joshua was born with a congenital heart defect called D-tga where his heart is backwards. At this point his heart is having an extremely difficult time functioning. For instance just to walk from one room to another is exhausting and he spends days in bed at a time. He would say he has no quality of life anymore as he was such an active man before all of this. After a bad bout of pneumonia last year and him living on full life support for 8 days but pulling through, the doctors believed he has more time but more test and symptoms show that is not the case. So needs a heart transplant and soon. He is now working with NYU Langone hospital a 3 to 5 hour drive depending on traffic and currently a couple days, a couple times per month. The money raised will help with cost of gas for the drives for his many doctor appointments before and after Joshua's heart transplant. It will help to pay for rent of an apartment, hotel, motel or condo for family to be able to support him during his heart transplant. The money will also help with gas his many trips back there for fallow up appointments but the biggest thing is finding a place to stay because every place near there is close to $500+ a night. The funds will also help dearly with the hotel stays when Josh has overnight testing a few times a month in sept-Oct and eventually he will be inpatient waiting for a heart and those funds again would be used for his friends and family to be able to stay somewhat close at all times, since you never know how he is doing day to day or if we get that blessing call and he is rushed into surgery! I will also need to be there as his care giver to learn to care for his new heart and Joshua’s healing process, way past the discharge of the hospital. Josh will need multiple heart catheters/biopsy’s every week for months. first every few days to once a week to a few times a month and so on depending on if he has any rejections. We have been so blessed by each of you who have shared our story, educated yourself, offered a helping hand. Those who have prayed, sent positive thoughts and vibes and of course the donations have been nothing short of a life saver and will NEVER be forgotten! That being said, this journey has surprised us by just how many trips we go to and the costs of gas and food and lodging and then normal things like rent, groceries, and doctor bills that were not expected. The list is never ending and we see ourselves once again on this winding, twisting, bending and up and down roller coaster. I promise to do my very best to repay all your kindness and generosity down the line. This journey has proven the saying, “It takes a village” far more true than we could have ever imagined!!

On a more personal level... my fiancé is the love of my life. To watch all of what he go's through on a day to day is heart breaking. He has shortness of breath keeping his 02 in the abnormal range and trouble walking from it. He has trouble drinking and eating for the same reason. He has been in and out of the hospital as his lungs are filling up with fluid or have nodules in them or he can’t keep his 02 high enough to cause organ and tissue damage. It is a scary life and I can't imagine my life without him. This fundraising will help more then you can imagine. Anything helps and please, please share this post as awareness and education about dextro transpositions of the great arteries or d-tga is just as important to us. Thank you so very much for your generosity in advance! ♥️❤️❤️♥️
