Joshua is a sweet & caring little guy with a big personality, making all who are around him smile with his quick-witted one-liners & out-of-the-blue comments. He loves socializing whether it’s meeting up with family or making new friends. Being on the go, and out & about in the community is his “happy place.” He loves school, has a significant appreciation for muscle cars & big trucks, camping, & enjoys listening to all genres of music while excitedly singing along. However, Joshua is also medically fragile, fully dependent with special needs & 24/7 total care. When he’s unable to leave the house for one medical reason or another, he takes comfort in helping in the kitchen, watching WWE wrestling, &/or playing his memory games on his kindle.
Joshua has been diagnosed with multiple conditions. While his congenital condition is L1 CAM, also known as X-Linked Hydrocephalus, he also has CP, EoE, FTT, along with other GI issues like acid reflux, severe scoliosis, and allergies requiring an EpiPen. As a result of this most recent hospitalization, among others, the newest diagnosis is Restrictive Lung Disease due to his scoliosis regressing. Joshua was exposed to RSV over the Christmas holiday & fell ill right after. He has now been in the hospital for almost two weeks fighting the effects of RSV pneumonia and his newest condition, Restrictive Lung Disease. He is currently going through an array of different tests & receiving many varied respiratory treatments to see what works best for him & then trying to get the necessary equipment approved by insurance so he’s able to come home. This is all new for us as a family & a new ‘norm’ we need to adjust to.
When we were bringing him to the ER a couple of weeks back, we went to start the car to learn it had sadly & unfortunately died on us. We’re going to have to replace it since transportation is critical to get Josh to his countless doctor, specialty, & outpatient therapy appointments, local & semi-long distance, that range from weekly to monthly.
We are trying to offset any expenses this is going to incur, some home equipment/supplies that insurance either doesn’t cover or only partially covers, as well as trying to help lighten the burden of having to purchase a “new to Josh” car for transporting him to medical appointments. Mom has been waiting over 2 years & counting for nursing services to help assist in Joshua’s care. Will you please help to lighten the financial burden for them? Any amount is appreciated & they’ll be forever grateful! Thank you!
