Help Josie with Osteomyelitis
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Marissa. My husband and I rescued Josie from our back alley when she was just a little kitten. She was immediately friendly and clearly wanted to be an indoor kitty. She was likely abandoned. My wonderful friend, Jennifer McCabe adopted Josie and has provided her with so much love and care. Josie is about 2 years old now and unfortunately her life has not been easy. Over the last year she has been diagnosed and treated for osteomyelitis in her leg, which is a bone infection that damages the bone. Following this, she started declining rapidly and lost tons of weight to the point of being just skin and bones. The doctors believe she may have an autoimmune condition. She is now on steroids to treat this disease and has been responding very well! Unfortunately, her osteomyelitis has returned and spread to both front legs. The vet also feels that Josie may have a fungal blood infection. At only 2 years old, Josie has so much life left to live. The doctors are still optimistic about her prognosis and want to continue treatments and testing to get more specific answers that will allow for better treatment, but this is so expensive—especially when it involves a specialty vet. The specialty vet believes that given the proper treatment, Josie’s prognosis could be very positive. Jennifer is doing everything she can for Josie, but she would appreciate any help you can spare as she has already exhausted all her resources. When she’s feeling well, Josie is a little spit-fire who has so much love and life in her! Please help us help little Josie.
