And this is his message for you :
Hello everyone, I am Saher Alghorra , a freelance photojournalist living in the Gaza Strip. As a journalist committed to reporting the truth, I must with a heavy heart address the urgent need for evacuation from Gaza. The escalating conflict and unstable security situation have reached alarming levels, posing an imminent danger to the lives of civilians, including journalists.
The safety and well-being of all individuals, regardless of their nationality or profession, must be of paramount importance in times of crisis. As journalists, we strive to be witnesses to events unfolding on the ground, but our ability to do so is severely compromised when our safety is at risk.
The decision to withdraw from Gaza is not taken lightly. It's a difficult choice made out of necessity, to protect my life and the lives of my family members as well. We are a family of 6, my mom and dad, my grandmother, my two sisters and me. We lived in Gaza City. A month and a half ago, our house was destroyed. We have been displaced more than once. We are lucky to be alive.
Like thousands of Palestinians, we are all currently living in one tent in the Sultan neighborhood of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, on the border with Egypt, with very limited access to water and food. Rafah is now being targeted and there is no safe place. I want help to travel with my family and me from the Gaza Strip.
The only crossing to Egypt requires a “coordination fee” in order to be included in the travel list for transit. It costs $6,000 per person, and the total amount is $36,000 for six people. My family has nowhere to go next, but surviving together is what matters.
Let's stand together in solidarity and compassion, providing the means for Saher and his family to find safety .
Update May 10, 2024:
The border between Rafah and Egypt his now closed, Saher and his family are trapped in Gaza. Even if the situation worsens by the hour, and Saher and his family have lost everything, they still have the hope to get out someday or be able to rebuild their house.
Please contribute whatever you can and share his campaign to give hope to Saher and his family.
And thank you all for your support .
