Help Jovie Get to Her Gender Confirmation Surgery
Donation protected
So a few of you reading this have known me since I first came out as myself, as Jovie. Some of you have always known me as Jovie and I'm so thankful that I have a community that loves and accepts and encourages me. I came out as a transgender woman about 6 years ago this month (I came out to myself though a few years before that). I've (for the most part) have always been met with love and support and privilege. I've had the privilege to start hormones when I wanted to for free, to keep relationships through my transition, to be accepted, to find an incredible doctor, etc. And I'm privileged now to work for a company that fully covers my next step in transition: gender confirmation surgery.
In general I'm pretty private about the specifics of my transition, but asking for help requires vulnerability so, I've been dreaming of this surgery for years but it's always been out of reach. Now that it's in reach, I'm almost able to get it. The only thing holding me back is a few plane tickets and a hotel stay. I've got my date and surgeon chosen, but I just need to get me there. That's where I'm asking my friends and family for help (I'm sorry this sounds like a political campaign text message asking for donations lol). I'm asking for $4,000 to help cover the plane tickets for me and my support, the hotel I'll be staying in for the first week after discharge, and some extra to support my loss of income while I recover for a whole month.
I am so thankful for the support I have from everyone in my life. And I am so thankful for any additional support given by you. In many ways my transition wouldn't have been possible without many of you and I'll always be thankful for that.
